The Girl From Brazil…

BRUNA SOTTILI…only fourteen years old but already the darling of the Brazilian fashion designers. Will her next stop be New York? Ask FORD MODELS.
Here featuring a makeup by THEO CARIAS inspired by the 60’s icon PEGGY MOFFIT. Peggy was once the muse and now keeper of the flame of RUDI GERNREICH the visionary designer of the topless bathing suit, the “no bra” bra, and originator of the term uni-sex. Moffit and her photog husband William Claxton have written THE RUDI GERNREICH BOOK chronicling their amazing relationship. The Look: Lots and lots of black liquid eye liner and false eye lashes galore. Add white pencil inside the eye and neutral lips. All by MAC COSMETICS

Versace this Fall…

In a return to VERSACE tradition Dontella assembled 5 super models for her new fall campaign. Mario Testino photographed: Christy Turlington (who looks great in a 14 pg. spread “Red is the new Black” in the Aug American Vogue), Kate Moss (she is back and every where), Caroline Murphy (Estee Lauder contract girl), Angela Lindvall (amazing photo on pg. 287 of Aug American Vogue), and Daria Werbowy (the newest of the super beauties…love her in the current Louis Vuitton ad).
The Look: Dark smokey eyes with a neutral lip color promises to be hot this fall…all by VERSACE COSMETICS, of course. And if Donatella has her way, big hair with waves and a lot of movement will complete the sexy look.

Super-super model LINDA EVANGELISTA reclaiming her rightful place on the Aug. cover of American VOGUE. Looking gorgeous as ever photographed by STEVEN KLEIN. Being surprisingly open Linda states; “It’s really important for me to be honest…I think it’s OK to say I’m 41…I’m pro-cosmetic procedure, I use Botox and I do Thermage, a treatment to stimulate your collagen. For me, it’s just for enhancement, like hair color or makeup or any other tricks you can do to make yourself feel better.” With a baby due mid-October she is keen to underscore; “I have not used Botox for over six months.” Plus check out Linda looking very futuristic in the 12 pg fashion spread “Built For Speed” on pg 222.

Paulina Porizkova…

I really loved working with Paulina. Besides her amazing beauty she has this crazy sense of humour… always joking around in the dressing room making like a vampire. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and this quality makes her more beautiful and a real pleasure to work with. In the early days Paulina never smiled in her photo’s. She had funny little teeth with spaces, and being the rebel that she is she refused to have them fixed. She jokingly would say; “It’s my one flaw”…I know she turned down an exclusive contract with COTY cosmetics because of this. It took her movie debut in ANNA to get her to fix her teeth and only then because it was part of the story line. After that she did sign a contract with ESTEE LAUDER for million’s. She smiles all the time now.
This is one of my favorite photo’s from the ELITE MODELS promotional calendar we worked on together in 1986 with photographer DOUGLAS DUBLER. I wanted to represent the month of December with a concept I called “Fire and Ice” which featured Paulina frozen in a block of ice just starting to melt. We hired an ice sculptor to carve out a shape in a block of ice for Paulina to stand against and then a fire bar was set up behind her so the flames would show through the ice. Paulina said it was the strangest feeling to be freezing while leaning on the ice in front while at the same time feeling the heat from the flames behind her. We had professional firemen standing by just in case…I was afraid the wig would catch fire!
When you think of ice you think of diamonds, nes’pa? Well HARRY WINSTON JEWELERS didn’t disappoint…and I still say diamonds are a girls best friend.

The Look: To portray the frozen effect I used white body makeup from KRYOLAN from head to toe. Then I made up her eye’s in several shades of lavender eyeshadow with false lashes to match all from SHU UEMURA. MAC’s Lustreglass lip gloss in Morning Glory over a mauve MAC lip pencil and a SWAROVSKI crystal beauty mark finish the look. Adding a long white wig from PIZAZZ completes the icy transformation.
