Makeup Beat

DIANE PERNET…We met in New York in the 80’s when I was looking for designers to be in an article I was producing on future fashion stars (she was in good company along with ANNA SUI and RICHARD TYLER). I did her makeup and hair for the story and fell in love with her style. We worked together several times and became good friends. We lost touch some years later until I went to see ROBERT ALTMAN’s “Ready to Wear” and there in the grand finale fashion show sitting next to KARL LAGERFELD was Diane. It took sometime before we reconnected but I learned DP had reinvented herself in Paris as a fashion blogger, documentary film maker, talent scout and critic par excellence. One of her on going project’s “YOU WEAR IT WELL” is a collaboration with artist / photog DINO DINCO. They have put together a traveling program of short films/videos that focus on fashion and style contributed by designers, artists, photographers and film makers ie: JEREMY SCOTT, RUBEN TOLEDO, LIAM SULLIVAN and NICK KNIGHT to name a few. The program has already had great success in Los Angeles and San Francisco and is now traveling through out Europe. An enigma to some, to me she is a passionate lover of fashion and a charming woman with her own unique style. Be sure to check her Shaded View on NY Fashion Week.
