The original Vampira (predecessor to Elvira) Maila Nurmi has passed away at the age of 86. Maila died in her sleep on January 10th 2008, of a heart attack at her home in Hollywood. She was born on December 21, 1921 in Finland. Best known as Vampira, the character she created to host The Vampira Show, a television role which won her an Emmy in 1954.
