Dressed all in Blond (don’t call it beige) Donatella Versace was quoted in the NY Times:
“I love matched luggage,” she said. Having grown disenchanted with shocking pink, she had the Versace leather workshop make a new set, hand-stitched with the Greek key pattern, in a more low-key, deep purple deerskin. “It gives a sense of security, of luxury, or being treated well,” she said. “So much time and work goes into making clothes. I want the clothes to be cared for.”

Purple, she noted, “is one of my favorite colors.”
“All shades or purple. If I do a dinner, I use purple lights. It gives a kind of mystery, a coziness and sensuality.”

With roughly a dozen purple cases in tow — one bag each for dresses, shoes and accessories — she can think of nothing grander than traveling with it. “All these people, they have a designer handbag, and I think: ‘So what? You have Eastpak luggage.’ Why should it get stolen? If it’s subtle, it’s not going to get stolen.”

In case you were wondering, she doesn’t pack or unpack herself, all part of the magic of being Donatella Versace. Though she has given up some decadence — like everyone else, she has been through rehab — Ms. Versace isn’t eager to give up other indulgences while she can afford them. “If I could, I would have them all,” she said with a staged cackle.

Quirky and off-beat to say the least.
