Nico & Adrian Spring ~ Summer 09 Show…

There was lot’s of drama at the Nico & Adrian show as always…and this collection was no exception. Backstage photo of the designers adjusting a gown was taken by Sharoonas. Their signature ruffled gowns are not my favorite as seen here on the singer from Danity Kane who walked the show.
However the simple jersey mesh gowns in shades of pale pink (seen below on Marjorie), nude, soft green and pale yellow were a winning departure for them.
Aside from a little wardrobe malfunction the show went smoothly and was well received by the packed crowd. Congratulations guys!

Princess Luciana Pignatelli…

“On evenings out, as we all know, there is an urge to look more sophisticated and mysterious. That is where the hairpiece comes in. With crepes and chiffons, I still adore to see a mass of hair, real or false, pulled high, with the ends dangling. This is a style that may be on its way out, but as far as I am concerned, if it suits me, it is not out yet.” Princess P.

My Makeup Design For Spring ~ Summer 2009…

Here’s the makeup look I designed for the Nico & Adrian S/S 09 fashion show using copper and bronze shimmer for eyes, lips, and cheeks. Plus lots of dramatic eyeliner to match N&A’s exotic collection. Creating a dramatic but fresh look with lots of glow.
Many thanks go out to Jennifer Balbier at M.A.C. for providing all the cosmetics.
And to my wonderful and talented makeup teams Mahealani Diego and her crew and dear friend Ari with his crew. Also to Corrina and her hairstyling team.
And a very special thank you to Cruz my personal asst.

Here’s what I used: Strong arched brows using Eyebrow crayon in Strut. The eyes were lined first with Blacktrack and just above that with Brassy Fluidline on the top lid only. Mega-Rich pigment color powder was used in the crease blending out to the temple with a sweep of Copper Sparkle pigment brushed all the way to the hairline. A sunny rounded cheek using Beauty powder blush in Eversun. And lips finished with Bronze Shimmer lipcolor. Black mascara along with false eyelashes add the extra drama.
All by M.A.C. cosmetics.
Cheryl Tiegs @ 61…

It’s UNBELIEVABLE that Cheryl claims she has had no plastic surgery not even injections because she can’t stand needles. Well I’d like to know how she is getting all the filler into her face and lips then…oh right it’s all this stuff.

Dior Beauty Institute Opens At Plaza Athenne Hotel Paris…

Parfums Christian Dior has unveiled a spruced-up beauty institute concept in the Plaza Athenée hotel on Avenue Montaigne, Paris.
The 2,900-square-foot space, which was inaugurated Sept. 16, will be a template for more hotel-based institutes in key cities worldwide, according to executives at the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned brand. While rollout plans for the concept are in the very early stages, the firm is eyeing openings in New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, Milan and Tokyo.

“We want to help more of our clients to associate Dior with skin care,
as well as with clothes and fragrances,”
Lynn Kohlman ~ Model and Muse ~ Dies…

Lynn Kohlman, a successful fashion model of the 1970s whose slightly androgynous look became an inspiration to the designers Perry Ellis and Donna Karan, died on Sept 14 2008 in Manhattan. She was 62. The cause was brain cancer, said her husband, Mark Obenhaus.
Ms.Kohlman appeared on the covers of Vogue and Elle and in advertisements for Yves Saint Laurent and Anne Klein.
Her personal style was tough and creative. She wore her hair short and her suits oversize, often paired with motorcycle boots. It was her offbeat style that attracted the attention of Mr. Ellis in the 1970s, and he often described her as a muse. Mr. Ellis once designed an entire collection based on an oversize white linen jacket Ms. Kohlman had worn and, as usual, she was the first model sent out onto the runway at that show. He gave her a position as an assistant designer at his company, even though she said she could not sketch or sew. Ms. Kohlman worked as a design executive for Perry Ellis and DKNY and later as a photographer.

It is always a shock when someone you know of dies even though Lynn was very public about her brain cancer. Lynn had a unique look for an American model and was very brave facing her health challenges. My condolences go out to her family. For more details click here.
